In 2004, as part of the strategic plan of the CGIS-NUR to reinforce its capacity in Remote Sensing, emphasis was put on three main objectives :
- develop capacity building in the field of RS at NUR and in Rwanda, through short-term training and education programs;
- develop research programs related or making use of RS in various domains of applications such as environment, agriculture;
- acquire, share and disseminate data through internet data distribution systems, creating awareness and developing partnerships.
