The Regional Refresher Course on the topic “Use of low cost earth observation data in environmental and climate monitoring applications: taking further the African Union - AMESD initiative” started today 5th October, 2009 at CGIS-NUR Centre, Huye.
This regional training was organized by the centre for Geographic Information System of National University of Rwanda (CGIS-NUR) together with The International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), Enschede, The Netherlands. it was officially opened by the vice Rector in charge of academic affairs (Prof. Martin O’HARA )and the CGIS-NUR director prof. Jean Nduwamungu.
This refresher course was supported by the Netherlands fellowship Program (NUFFIC/NFP).
It is in its duties, the National University of Rwanda to facilitate exchage between Institutions and universities all over Africa and world wide as well in the up-to-date technology application to environmental Management for Sustainable development. This training will give an opportunity to share with African scientists this experience.
