The national university of Rwanda ‘s Geographic and remote sensing training and Research centre (CGIS) would like to recruit 1-2 health researchers to develop and support ongoing GIS projects .Ideal candidates will have experience using GIS software and will have earned a bachelor or post graduate degree in environmental or public health practice .

GIS Textbook for Secondary Schools Launch
On 17th September the Ministry of Education has officially launched the GIS Textbook for Secondary Schools. Before the launch at the ES Stella Matutina school in Rulindo District, the Permanent Secretary a.i., Samuel Mulindwa, thanked the development partners, ESRI Germany and the GIS Center of the National University for their support in bringing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to secondary schools of Rwanda.

Once again, on November 24th, GIS Day 2009 was a successful event. Held at the CGIS-NUR, the colorful day was attended by unspecified number of participants including land managers, environmental officers, Sector Executive Secretaries from the southern Province’s Huye, Nyanza, Nyamagabe Gisaga and Nyaruguru districts.
